Ernel Mariano joined the Lazarus Sydney Office in early 2025 as an Operations Analyst, where he supports senior dealers and contributes to the prime brokerage business.

Ernel has worked in Australia previously with Westpac and HSBC before moving to the UK, where he spent 15 years in the financial industry with top-tier banks such as BNP Paribas and Northern Trust. At BNP Paribas Securities Services, he held the role of AVP in Operations, specializing in financial operations, client management, and driving change initiatives to enhance efficiency and compliance. His experience also includes fund management, overseeing investment operations and ensuring regulatory alignment in asset servicing.

Upon returning to Australia, he continued his career with MUFG, further applying his expertise in banking operations, regulatory frameworks such as ASIC in Australia and the FCA in the UK, and strategic process enhancements. A meticulous problem-solver, he refines financial workflows and optimizes business processes.

Academically, he holds a Master’s degree from the University of York and is an associate alumni of the University of Oxford Said Business School, reinforcing his deep understanding of financial strategies and operations.
